In your experience, is CAS editiing out vamps like that really safe to do? CAS is concerned with sims' appearances, an occult state runs deeper than that hence the testingcheats mailbox and MasterController solutions. With vampires turned off on the demographics tab they should not be trying to turn any of the other town residents, so are pretty much harmless and can be seen as being more eccentric than a threat. The non-mod solution is going to be to identify the couple or three vampires that are present in the town (pale skin, glowing eyes, and burning in sunlight are good clues), open the console (ctrl+shift+c), type 'testingcheatsenabled true' (no quotes), shift-click them (or maybe ctrl-click - I forget), edit them in Create-a-Sim to remove the vampire state (make them human), accept the change, and keep an eye out for any others that you might have missed. It doesn't do anything about ones that are present when you start a new game.
